GALECA Goes International with 2019 Dorian Award Nominations

GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics has gone global with their nominations for the 11th Annual Dorian Awards, with three acclaimed international films leading the field. Bong Joon Ho's twisted Parasite (from South Korea) and Céline Sciamma's swoony Portrait of a Lady on Fire (from France) are each nominated for six awards, closely followed by Pedro Almodovar's poignant Pain and Glory (from Spain) with five nods. These three are joined in the Film of the Year race by Lorene Scafaria's seductive Hustlers, Greta Gerwig's beguiling Little Women and Quentin Tarantino's gonzo Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood.

Film acting nominations include such Movie Dearest faves as Awkwafina (The Farewell), Antonio Banderas (Pain and Glory),Adam Driver, Scarlett Johansson & Laura Dern (Marriage Story), Taron Egerton (Rocketman), Brad Pitt (Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood), Florence Pugh (Little Women), Margot Robbie (Bombshell), Alfre Woodard (Clemency) and Renée Zellweger (Judy).

Previous Dorian Award winners Schitt's Creek and Pose lead the TV awards with five and four nominations, respectively, while GALECA's special awards include the previously announced "Wilde Artist of the Year" winner, Booksmart director Olivia Wilde, and a special "once every ten years" prize for the "Wilde Artist of the Decade". See the comments section below for the complete list of all Dorian Award nominees.

GALECA (of which Movie Dearest's own Chris Carpenter and myself are long-standing members) will announce the Dorian Award winners in all categories (including this year's recipient of the "Timeless Award" for lifetime achievement) on Wednesday January 8th, followed by a special award presentation ceremony on Sunday February 2nd in Los Angeles.
