Cult Art, Movie Style

It is always interesting to see great artists take works from one medium and reinterpret it in another. Nowhere is that more evident then at the recent cult film art show at Los Angeles' Gallery 1988.

For those of us who cannot make it to the show itself, MTV.com has an extensive gallery showcasing 40 pictures from the opening that drew the likes of Kevin Smith and other film directors. Smith's movies are amply represented, as are such other recent inductees into the cult movie canon as Fight Club, Office Space and Shaun of the Dead.

On the other hand, it is nice to see such classic examples as Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, A Christmas Story and Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! get their fare share of wall space as well.

Owing to my own "group mentality affection", my favorite piece would be Jeff McMillan's "All Together Now", pictured above. It is so nice to see so many of her peers show up for Laura Palmer's funeral.
