MD Poll: Kramer vs. Ellen

The votes are in and, unlike The Advocate's number one "Gay Hero" Ellen DeGeneres, Movie Dearest readers picked Larry Kramer for their choice of the "most deserving" of that title. I must admit, the results are a bit surprising (Kramer only placed #18 in the Advocate poll), but it sure is nice to know that my readers are up on their gay history. And what does the winner get besides bragging rights? Well, Kramer (who netted 27 votes out of 86 total, for 31% of the vote) will be profiled in next week's "Out in Film".

Ellen did come in second, with 24 votes (27%), followed by Ian McKellen with 12 (13%). Melissa Etheridge, Harvey Fierstein (my personal vote) and Elton John tied for fourth place, with 4 for 4%.

For the complete results, see the comment section below. The next MD Poll will be posted later today, and you can get a hint of its subject matter by what section it will appear in: "Movie Music".
