Olivier Loves "Hairspray"

With a record-setting 11 nominations, the London production of the stage musical hit Hairspray leads this year's Laurence Olivier Award nominations. Nominations include Best Musical, Best Director and Best Choreographer for, respectively, Jack O'Brien and Jerry Mitchell, plus acting nods for the West End Tracy and Edna Turnblad, Leanne Jones and Michael Ball.

Other nominees include the Little Shop of Horrors revival, the sprawling epic version of The Lord of the Rings and Ian McKellen, although for his performance of King Lear, not Gandalf.

The 32nd Annual Laurence Olivier Awards will be presented on March 9 in London.
