Women We Love: Annie Potts

This is the third in a four-part salute to the Designing Women We Love, the first season of which finally makes its DVD debutMay 26:

Object of our affection: Annie Potts, actress.

- She received a Golden Globe nomination for her film debut in Corvette Summer, followed by performances in King of the Gypsies, Crimes of Passion, Pretty in Pink, Jumpin' Jack Flash and Texasville.

- Her two most famous film roles are sassy secretary Janine Melnitz in the Ghostbusters movies and the voice of Little Bo Peep in the Toy Story trilogy.

- But she is best known as the down-to-earth Mary Jo Shively of Designing Women fame, a role she played for the series entire seven season run.

- Afterward, she went on to an Emmy nominated performance in Love & War and two Screen Actors Guild nominations for Any Day Now, plus the television version of Dangerous Minds.

- More recently, she has guest starred on such shows as Joan of Arcadia, Men in Trees, Ugly Betty, Boston Legal and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
