All Together Now: Hungry Jazz Face!

Movie Dearest continues the weeklong countdown to the new movie musical of John Waters' cult classic Hairspray, opening nationwide this Friday.

Blogs are everywhere these days (it seems just about anyone can have one), so it was only a matter of time for movie studios to latch onto them as publicity tools.

New Line Cinema has given Hairspray its very own blog, filled with all the latest (virtual) ink and videos their marketing department can track down.

My favorite video on the site is the "You Can't Stop the Beat" opening number from last week's So You Think You Can Dance? show. Such technique, such energy, such big hair.

And if you like that one, head over to YouTube for the behind-the-scenes footage of the film's director/choreographer Adam Shankman putting the contestants through their paces and generally showing them all up. Man, check out those kip-ups!

And of course, you can also visit the film's official site with its nifty printable autographed photographs of the younger cast members, suitable for locker interiors and bedroom walls everywhere. Go on, you know you want one.

UPDATE: The Adam Shankman behind-the-scenes video has been removed from YouTube. Damn you, Dick Clark!
