Today not only marks the four-month anniversary of Movie Dearest, it is also the birthday of my good friend and fellow movie critic/film fanatic Neil Cohen.
Neil and I have been pals every since we bonded over shaved legs and false eyelashes way back in a 1988 community theater production of La Cage aux Folles in Phoenix, Arizona. Through the years, we have done many a show and gone to many a movie together, and even threw a few awesome Oscar parties, so I want to take this opportunity to thank him for almost 20 (!) years of friendship and fun.
To celebrate the occasion, here are two video tributes to Neil's favorite movie of all time, John Waters' Serial Mom starring the one and only Kathleen Turner. The first shows Beverly Sutphin's homicidal rampages in exploitation movie style, while the second offers a unique twist on the movie's most famous scene, which Neil can quote verbatim (and often does).
UPDATE: The first video has been removed, so here's the original, classic phone call scene.
