Bathhouse Chic

Broadway will continue puttin' on The Ritz through December 9, as the Terrence McNally gay bathhouse farce has extended its run at the legendary Studio 54.

The revival features current Genre cover boy Justin Clynes and stars the sure to be Tony nominated Rosie Perez as Googie Gomez, the role that won Rita Moreno her Tony back when the comedy was first produced in 1975.

Moreno reprised here role in the film version (watch her big production number here), along with fellow original cast members Jack Weston, Jerry Stiller and F. Murray Abraham, plus Kaye Ballard and a hilariously falsettoed Treat Williams in his film debut. (The Ritz: The Movie also marked the film debut of Cheers' John Ratzenberger, but I think Treat looks better in a towel.) The movie is finally getting a DVD release January 8, and you can pre-order it right here, right nowfrom Amazon.com.
