Women We Love: Jane Fonda

Object of our affection: Jane Fonda, actress/activist/ exercise guru.
- Why we love her: For all her many lives (pictured above), from 60's sex siren to 70's acting icon to 80's fitness diva.
- Awards on her mantel: Two Academy Awards (Klute, Coming Home) plus five more nominations (They Shoot Horses, Don't They?; Julia; The China Syndrome; On Golden Pond; The Morning After), an Emmy (The Dollmaker), six Golden Globes, four People's Choice Awards and more.
- Other choice roles: Wild women of the west in Walk on the Wild Side and Cat Ballou, funny feminists in Barefoot in the Park and 9 to 5, space siren in Barbarella.
- Family ties: Daughter of Henry, sister of Peter, aunt of Bridget, mother of Troy Garity (star of Soldier's Girl). She and her father were the first father/daughter couple to be Oscar nominated in the same year (and for the same film, for that matter), in 1981 for On Golden Pond.
- Side jobs: Went from controversial "Hanoi Jane" to best-selling author with her own line of work-out books and aerobic videos.
- Bet you didn't know: Was born on the same day Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs premiered; her father was filming the Bette Davis classic, Jezebel at the time.
- Yes, it's true: Turned down lead roles in Bonnie and Clyde, Chinatown, The Exorcist and Norma Rae.
- Can we quote you on that: "Working in Hollywood does give one a certain expertise in the field of prostitution."
- What has she done for us lately: Shined through the otherwise dreary Monster-in-Law and Georgia Rule.
- Where we can see her next: Hosting a special Academy screening of Coming Home next Monday, November 12.
