With a new year comes changes, and for me that has included a new home in a new state, a new job and new demands on my time. So, in an effort to A) maintain my sanity, B) have more time to actually watch more movies instead of just writing about them and C) (most importantly to you) continue Movie Dearest, some streamlining will go into effect from now on.
In general, posts will now be briefer, more akin to bulletins of items I want to share with you (with the usual relevant links, pictures, videos, et cetera) rather then full-fledged articles. Of course, there will still be the occasional longer (long-winded?) posts when the situation merits it or the mood strikes me. One benefit of this new format is that I'll be able to get such stories to you not only more quickly (that is, once I get all caught up ...), but also to contribute to some sections that tend to get lost in the shuffle from time to time (such as Great Performances, Movie Moments and Off the Shelf, among others).
Speaking of sections, the three weekly showcase profiles (Cinematic Crushes, Women We Love and Out in Film) will continue, now in a more capsulized form. Meanwhile, The Latest on DVD will exist mostly as a permanent feature in the sidebar by way of the handy dandy Amazon.com widgets. However, one casualty will be the monthly Tune Into TCM; from now on, notable Turner Classic Movies programming will be highlighted in The Latest on TV posts the day prior. Additionally, the popular MD Polls will run on a not-so-set schedule, with some running for two weeks or even longer, such as a planned block of Oscar prediction polls coming later this month.
As MD continues to evolve, it is my hope that you continue to stop by to catch up on all the latest and greatest on the movies, TV shows and theater that we all love. Furthermore, as always, all feedback and comments are welcome and appreciated. So, in closing, here's to a great 2008!
