A Mermaid Lands on Broadway

Following a mixed reception in its Denver tryout and a strike delay during previews, Disney's animated masterpiece The Little Mermaid finally officially opened on Broadway tonight at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater.

The cast and creative team has been out in force to promote the stage adaptation (which Disney hopes will last longer then the short-lived Tarzan did two seasons ago), including composer Alan Menken, librettist Doug Wright, choreographer Stephen Mear and stars Sherie Rene Scott (Ursula) and Norm Lewis (King Triton), who are revealed to be siblings in this version.
