One of the first foreign language films to win an Academy Award, this classic adventure has inspired everything from The Magnificent Seven to A Bug's Life.Akira Kurosawa directed this "eastern western", which also received Oscar nominations for art direction and costume design, about a small village that hires this magnificent seven to protect them from a roving band of, well, roving bandits.
The Seven Samurai airs tomorrow night at midnight on Turner Classic Movies.
