Evil Dead: The Musical, the unlikely hit stage version of the Sam Raimi cult horror movies, will be celebrating its 300th performance June 26 at the Diesel Playhouse in Toronto, making it the longest running theatrical play in that city's history. That's a lot of stage blood spilt (patrons in the first few rows of seats -- called "Splatter Zones" -- are provided with rain ponchos, if that is any indication of the amount of carnage going on onstage).
The gory tuner, which also boasts productions in Korea and (opening today) Concord, California, is a campy hoot if these YouTube videos are any indication. An original cast album, featuring such songs as "What the F**k Was That?", "All the Men in My Life Keep Getting Killed by Candaian Demons" and "Ode to an Accidental Stabbing", is also available.
