Back in 2000, Johnny Depp was to star in Terry Gilliam's The Man Who Killed Don Quixote. As anyone who has seen the documentary Lost in La Mancha knows, that never happened.
Over the years, Gilliam has tried repeatedly to re-launch his dream project (which combines elements of Cervantes' Don Quixote with Twain's A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court), and it looks like it will finally happen, pending Depp's schedule. Rumored to play the title character this time is Gilliam's fellow Monty Python alum, Michael Palin.
Depp and Gilliam recently completed filming another troubled production, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
