Return to Manderley

On the heels of The 39 Steps, another Alfred Hitchcock classic is coming to Broadway, this time as a musical. The international hit stage version of Rebecca will arrive on the Great White Way in 2010, following successful productions in Vienna, Tokyo, Berlin and Helsinki.

Based on the Daphne Du Maurier novel that also inspired 1940's Academy Award winning Best Picture (starring Laurence Olivier, Joan Fontaine and Judith Anderson), the tuner will be directed by Francesca Zambello, who is becoming quite a pro at these stage-to-screen transfers. In addition to the currently running The Little Mermaid (on Broadway) and Little House on the Prairie (in Minneapolis), she has just been announced as the helmer of The First Wives Club - A New Musical, which will open next year in San Diego prior to moving to New York.
