It's hard to believe that 25 years have passed since Gerard Alessandrini first started skewering the sacred cows of the Great White Way with Forbidden Broadway. But here it is, a quarter of a century later, and of course there is still plenty to lampoon.
The latest production, subtitled Rude Awakening, takes aim at such current theatrical fare as Grey Gardens, Hairspray, Mary Poppins, Wicked and even the just-opened The Little Mermaid (I can just see it: Ariel duct taped to a skateboard).
And now even those of us outside of New York can get a taste of this Forbidden fruit, with the newest original cast recording coming out January 22, now available for pre-orderfrom Amazon.com.
