Douglas Sirk was the master of the melodrama, and you can't get more melodramatic then this big screen soap opera.Lauren Bacall marries alcoholic oil heir Robert Stack but soon falls for Rock Hudson, his poorer but not alcoholic best pal. Dorothy Malone is the spoiled sister who spills the beans. Stack and Malone were both nominated for supporting Oscars, with the latter taking home the gold. The title tune was also nominated.
