Ginger Rogers is mostly remembered for her dancing and romantic comedy skills (often with some guy named Fred), but she was quite a dramatic actress in her own right, as evidenced by her Academy Award-winning performance as the title character in Kitty Foyle.Rogers plays a sassy secretary from "the wrong side of the tracks" who falls for her rich socialite boss. Naturally, his family does not approve, resulting in heartache and tragedy for our heroine. The film, subtitled The Natural History of Woman (!), received four other Oscar nominations, including Best Picture.
Kitty Foyle airs tomorrow on Turner Classic Movies at 6:00 PM EST.
