Last season on Dancing With the Stars, cutie Julianne Hough fox trotted to victory with her celebrity partner, Olympic Gold Medal-winning speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno (a cutie in his own right). One of the dances the duo performed along their way to glittered glory was a jumpin' jive inspired by the classic "Jack Rabbit's Slim Twist Contest" from Pulp Fiction.
Julianne, who is (in my eyes) the most creative choreographer on the popular competition/variety show, returned to the movies with last night's quick step based on the smokin' dance sequence from Jim Carrey's The Mask. Racecar champion Helio Castroneves (a cutie in his own right as well) actually didn't wear a mask, but he did look mighty spiffy in his bright yellow zoot suit and wide-brimmed hat.
The resulting number netted the duo a perfect score from the judges, and the viewers agreed: they'll be back for the semi-finals next week. Julianne and Helio (nicknamed "Julio" by fans) have been my pick from episode one. This season's winner of the tacky mirror ball trophy will be announced during the show's finale November 27.
In related news: Dancing With the Stars is hitting the road again when its 37 city North American tour kicks off November 18. Celebs slated to appear include Joey Lawrence, Monique Coleman, Sabrina Bryan and season two winner Drew Lachey.
