In this promotional shot for the new London stage musical version of Gone With the Wind, the dashing Darius Danesh and a glamorous Jill Paice recreate an iconic image of Rhett and Scarlett from the film classic.Directed by Tony Award winner Trevor Nunn, the production begins previews tomorrow evening, with an opening scheduled for April 22.
In related news, Turner Classic Movies is currently filming the behind-the-scenes goings on of the show for an upcoming "making of" special to air sometime in the future on TCM.

Wasn't GWTW already made into a musical in the 1970's? In Japan it was called "Scarlett," it moved to London as GWTW where it starred Harve Presnell and June Ritchie where it was a hit. In USA it starred Lesley Ann Warren, Pernell Roberts, Udana Power, Theresa Merritt and closed on the road to Broadway; a bomb. The beautiful music was by Harold Rome, book by Horton Foote. Then there was some strange version in Paris in early 2000. Is this an entirely new version? I have recordings of the Japanese version and the London version; the US version was never recorded.

"With music and lyrics by sociologist-turned-composer Margaret Martin, Gone With the Wind has been in development for three years with Nunn, Martin and producer Aldo Scrofani of Columbia Artists, who has teamed up with London producer Coilin Ingram for the West End premiere."
